    Our Food

Just a taste of the delicious meals you will enjoy on a Spirit of the West kayaking tour

What you'll eat on a kayak trip with us

Food is an essential part of every camping trip, and we like to say that “while you can’t control the weather or the wildlife, you can control the food!” We focus on providing a range of sustainable and locally sourced ingredients. We’ve swapped out the traditional hot dog and canned beans for hearty, nourishing, and satisfying meals that are kind to both your body and the planet.

    Our Meals

From fresh green salads with roasted baby potatoes to responsibly sourced lingcod, followed by freshly baked local treats and seasonal fruit, it’s a pleasure to share nourishing meals while savouring some of the most breathtaking scenery around. While meal options vary by tour, browse some of our typical expedition offerings below.*

*Sample menu items are based on the expedition tour menus. Basecamp tour offerings will vary slightly. For information on meals at our Whales and Wilderness Glamping, Johnstone Strait Ultimate, and Ultimate Family Adventure camps, please read the food section on the overview pages for each tour.

Snacks are also available for quick, on the water nourishment. Your guides will have trail mix, fruit leather, granola bars, sweet & savoury treats (such as jerky or pepperoni) as well as chocolate available for snacking. You are also welcome to bring along your favourite snacks for while you are kayaking.

    Our beverages

We are very fortunate to have world-class coffee roasters on our little island, importing ethically produced and sustainable coffee. Helene and Peter of Aroma Roasters supply us with freshly roasted, fair trade, organic, shade grown beans produced by a women’s cooperative in Mexico or Peru.

Fruit juice, teas, and hot chocolate are also all provided for your drinking pleasure. You are welcome to bring wine, beer and spirits* for enjoying responsibly with your meals.

*We ask that alcohol consumption be reserved for after the day’s kayaking activities are complete. This ensures a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.
